... I have been in and around the housekeeping world my entire life! My mother was a housekeeper, and, after I moved to the United States from Brazil 24 years ago, I entered the housekeeping space as an unsure, ambitious, young professional. Over the last two decades, I've worked in many types of housekeeping settings, from ultra high net worth estates in Palm Beach to luxury homes in Montana and The Bahamas to upper-middle class inland Florida houses and beyond.
I have grown to love this industry because it is fundamentally empowering. Being an executive housekeeper is lucrative and offers a career with job security and benefits. It also offers the chance for a path of fulfillment, as you spend your days building trusting relationships and adding genuine value to people's lives.
Over the last couple decades I have made countless mistakes, mastered hundreds of skills, and become intimately familiar with what it takes to thrive in this industry. Now I want to share what I've learned with others. I want to help others land jobs, break into the luxury housekeeping world, and experience the financial reward and fulfillment I've been privileged enough to experience as well!
Sincerely,
Fernanda
I worked as an executive housekeeper for an ultra high net worth home in Palm Beach. As the executive housekeeper in a staff team of 20, I helped with everything: From overseeing luxury purchases for my employer to ensuring the highest quality cleanliness and organization standards on all parts of the estate every day. As a part of this role, I also managed luxury homes in Montana. This role taught me what personality employers want in a great executive housekeeper and the attention to detail expected at this level.
Most recently, I worked for a high net worth individual in Palm Beach, helping manage all aspects of their home from cooking meals to organizing wardrobes and leading teams of staff. This role taught me the art of being proactive while maintaining professionalism. It also taught me how to handle the unexpected gracefully.
I spent a number of years as an executive housekeeper and personal assistant for a large estate in inland Florida. My employers, a young family, relied on me to help in all aspects of their lives, from preparing meals to performing nanny duties to ensuring all systems in the home were running smoothly. In this role I learned what emotional and social headspace is required for elite housekeeping and how to achieve the consistency this world requires.
One of my earlier experiences was managing a luxury home in Hillsoboro Mile, Florida. As one of my earlier experiences, my time in Hillsboro Mile was packed with learning. I helped with all the standard duties of Executive Housekeeper, in addition to providing comprehensive support as a personal assistant. In this role, I learned the importance and difficulty of impeccably clear communication with other staff and my employer.
As I reflect on why I am starting this course, I repeatedly arrive at the same thought: I would have wanted something like this when I was first starting out.
As an immigrant from Brazil, I entered the luxury housekeeping world very oblivious to what was expected of me and how to succeed. Frankly, I was lost. Now many years and lessons later, I understand this world inside and out. I understand the specific skills you will be expected to have familiarity with, and have performed them countless times. But more importantly, I understand the principles that lead to success. Confidence. Humility. Proactiveness. Positive energy. Commitment to excellence. And a willingness to learn.
My goal for this course is simple: To help my students build a career as an executive housekeeper and change their lives. We are going to cover everything, from how to format your resume to how to clean $1000 pillow cases to discussing how to become someone your employers will admire and love to hire. I want my classroom to be interactive and collaborative, leaving you feeling energized and motivated to seize your potential, while teaching you real skills and tips you can put to use right away. More than anything, I want to create a course that the younger version of me would have valued. In a word, I want to show others the life changing opportunity this industry offers and how to get there.
